When night falls, a quiet magic stirs behind the velvet shadows of the circus. The curtains part with a whisper, welcoming all beings, humanoid or not, to gather before a hidden stage, where a special event awaits.

Taking their place as the storyteller, Hatticus steps away from their duties, their voice low and playful as they promise the wildest of tales, each one sworn to be true.

Chapistro’s first story takes place in the 1990’s in the province of Quebec, Canada. We follow Lyra, an autistic, young woman and an art student, who is unaware of her queerness and autism. All she knows is that she always found it difficult to fit in the mold society expected of her.

Ever since her best friend moved to another country during their childhood, Lyra felt like a fish out of water, forced to interact with individuals she didn’t resonate with. Gone were the times where she could disappear in a world of fantasy and play-pretend with the only person who seemed to understand her. It was time to ‘grow up’ and be part of ‘the real world’.

But it’s okay, because if the rumors are true, her friend is going to be in the same class as her this semester. Lyra is too excited to question her situation—
